Catholics Coming Home
Catholics Coming Home is an outreach ministry offered by St. Ignatius Parish. The series is designed as a “journey of exploration” for Catholics who have been away from the Church for whatever reason or length of time. This “welcoming” ministry is modelled on a highly successful program that was initiated in Minneapolis about twenty years ago, and that is now offered in many parishes in Minnesota and elsewhere.
Facilitated by a team of lay people, the series offers six informal evening sessions with brief presentations and opportunities to share stories in a safe caring environment. The presentations offer a review of some of the fundamentals of Catholic teaching. Inactive Catholics who may simply have drifted away from the practice of their faith, or who have been hurt, alienated, or left confused or angry by the Church or some “Catholic experience,” can share together their joy and their pain, come to a better understanding of the Church’s teachings, and experience Christian community. The series is open to all who seek to review or reconsider their relationship with the Church. For more information, call Richard Lebrun at lebrun@cc.umanitoba,ca or phone him at 488-3835.
